以色列總理納坦尼雅胡(Benjamin Netanyahu)似乎不甩聯合國及美國的呼籲，在國內推動一項促使約旦河西岸數十個佔領區屯墾合法化的法案，白宮對此也發出警告，持續推動非法屯墾對以巴和平沒有幫助。
上周以色列國會決議，將拆除屯墾區上非法的建築後，納坦尼雅胡似乎無懼國際譴責，再度向國會提案，企圖讓屯墾合法化。他企圖拉攏極端民族主義的政黨「猶太人家園」(The Jewish Home)的支持，積極推動西岸的屯墾合法。
根據美國福斯新聞網(Fox News)報導，該法案的目標讓過去在巴勒斯坦土地上建造的幾千座違法建築合法化，原有的土地擁有者即便不願意放棄財產，也會得到金錢或替代土地的賠償。批評者認為這項法案的問題在於，巴勒斯坦並非以色列的一部分，他們也沒有投票權，卻會因此被影響到土地的使用。
聯合國去年12月23日宣布2334號決議，譴責以色列在巴勒斯坦佔領區的屯墾問題，美國也少見的未投下否決票，而是棄權，以國總理當時稱這是美國前總統歐巴馬(Barack Obama)的陰謀。上周五(3日)總統川普(Donald Trump)也再度表態，即便不認為過去的屯墾是和平的阻礙，但不支持建造新的屯墾區或擴大範圍，這對實現和平沒有幫助。

新北市政府地政局副局長王聖文在自家住處跳樓輕生，經送醫仍宣告不治，王聖文留下遺書自清，聲稱絕無收受賄賂。不過，檢廉調查發現，王聖文與晶鑽建設李姓建商以電話交談時每遇敏感話題，都會提醒「電話裡不要講」，讓購物檢廉心生懷疑，因而21日前往王聖文住處搜索，沒想到當日下午王聖文就自殺身亡。
檢廉偵辦晶鑽建設公司涉嫌行賄台北、新北官員案，因王聖文突然跳樓輕生而引發社會高度關注，新北市長朱立倫得知王聖文身亡，除表達傷心遺憾，也盼檢方釐清案情真相。
檢廉指出，經查發現，王聖文與晶鑽建設等建商往來密切，有時在與李姓建商電話交談時，只要談到敏感話題，兩人會互相提醒「電話中不要秒購商品講」，要求用LINE來談，行事相當謹慎，反而引起檢廉的注意，懷疑王聖文可能涉及收賄。由於王聖文以遺書自清，強調絕對沒有拿某人的錢，究竟有無收賄，尚待調查，若無收賄情事，自當還王聖文清白。
